omigawd. the john terry injury was bloody scary. he looked lifeless on pitch. my eyelids were swelling, ready to cry. i don't like terry whatsover but it was really scary.

i'm starting a 4-day stint at maha bodhi from tomorrow onwards. it's heavily speculated that results will be out this coming week but the media is not giving any clues. i'm hoping for the best but i'm expecting the worst. bleurgh.

the only thing left for me to do now is to decide how much tears to shed. seriously.

i find it disturbing that the wimbledon organisers have finally allowed the equal prize money for both male and female. last year’s women’s singles champion, amelie mauresmo, earned $1.117 million, compared to the $1.17 million men’s champion roger federer. that's a difference of $53k.

honestly, i don't think the female players deserve the same amount of prize money. men play the best of 5 sets, meaning they needed to win at least 3 sets and losing 2 to seal the match while women play the best of 3 sets, allowing them to win the match in 2 sets and losing 1. this goes to show that the the male players spend a much longer time on court than their female counterparts. to be rewarded the same amount of money for more work is unfair.

in addition, the disparity in the standard of tennis between the top female players against their lowly ranked opponents is stark. the women's world no 20 is a german by the name of anna-lena groenefeld. she has won 1 career title and her best grand slam showing is a quater-final berth at roland garros. in contrast, the men's world no 20 is australian lleyton hewitt. hewitt owns 25 career titles, 2 of which are grand slam titles. to groenefeld's credit, she is only 21 while hewitt is a tour veteran at 26.

male players are almost even in terms of their quality of tennis that they bring on court. so it isn't suprising to see the higher ranked players crash out of tournaments to lesser-known opponents.

the wta claims that it wasn't about the money, it was about gender equality. well, if the prize money for men would have been $12k while women earn $10k, i highly doubt that this debate would even arise. $2000 is nothing compared to what they could get in reality, $53 000. and as mentioned by an article in today's straits times, tennis is a sport created by men, for men. while i thoroughly support the participation of both genders, the sport imposes different requirements for each gender.

it is for sports like soccer and billiards where equal prize money can be introduced, if not already done so. both men's and women's soccer require players to score and defend in order to win the game in 90 minutes. women's soccer does not impose a 60-minute halftime, and neither do each team field 13 players on the pitch. the rules and regulations of soccer are the same for both genders. so why don't the female players earn as much as the henrys and terrys of europe? primarily due to the lack of viewership and support for women's soccer due to no fault of the players, i presume. so how fair is this then? they play as hard as the male counterparts. so why can't they ask for higher prize money as well? in fact, fifa, the world governing body for soccer, does not offer cash prizes at the women's world cup. so if you want to talk about political correctness, how correct is that?

i feel really affected by wimbledon's new policy. the reality is, the men deserve more prize money. if equal prize money has to stand, then why can't the men play the best of 3 sets at grand slams too?

sanjaya was my early favourite ever since he auditioned with the sister. but he was boring yesterday. no guy really stood out for me but there were plenty of eyecandy. and phil stacey looks and sounds (though not as good) like magni from rockstar: supernova (the reality show, not the fug band).

it's valentine's day today and i have a date tonight with milo ventimiglia.

my parents picked up the fall out boy cd i won on power 98 earlier today as it was near the place they were heading. when my mom passed me the cd, the infinity on high cd came with 3 other EPs by pretty unknown musicians. no angels, triple 8 and a compilation one. looking at the covers, they were produced in 2001, 2003 and 2006 respectively. i suppose they were unclaimed prizes back in the days. but heck that. as long as the fall out boy cd is there, i'm pleased.

i would have never imagined jeff probst being this hot. but i'm only happy to prove myself wrong.

i was watching the simple life yesterday and seeing little jacob contreras cry after nicole richie said goodbye was incredibly heartfelt. it made me want to cry too. and i thought it was sweet that she hugged him and said "i'll come visit you someday". i doubt it'll ever happen but it was super touching.

nicole richie almost made me cry. wow.

i was finally called for my first relief teaching stint today. maha bodhi school called me to teach english, maths and science to a primary 4 class. primary 4 Integrity. they were supposed to be the best in the level. but oh boy, they were monkeys- girls and boys alike. the boys were rolling on the floor, the girls were hiding underneath the teacher's table. my goodness. i thought i could do maths but estimation had me really confused. i actually thought them the wrong concept until a boy alerted me to it. how embarrassing. and these kids have really out of the world names. stamford, ocel, jarran, reefver.

and everytime the class got out of control, i dragged jarran, who has one hell of a loud voice, to the front of the class and shout "CLASS KEEP QUIET!" to the rest of his class mates but to no avail. they never took us seriously and jarran broke into fits of laughter more often than not. the best thing was that they addressed me as Miss Nadia, and not 'tcher. i even talked football to one of the boys. like bloody random. and jarran told me that i'm really not fierce at all, unlike their teacher. i had fun talking to these kids. sometimes you want to strangle them, other times you just want to wrap them up and bring them home.

it was really an eye-opening experience for me. i may not have the loud voice that a teacher should have but i'm seriously considering this as a career option. i hope to be able to enter ntu to do education.

my 1st sister-in-law delivered a baby girl this afternoon. she was born a healthy 3.2kg through c-section. i assume her name will start with an O after her 3 elder brothers were named Amir, Ezra and Izan in that order. maybe ophelia perhaps?

ever since my dad stopped working and i started my fucking long holiday, my whole family (3 of us now) is at home practically everyday. and we actually go out together. i can't remember the last time i went out with my dad aside from family functions. last tuesday, we went to giant with my mom. this morning, we want to geylang serai market. and it was nice having my parents asking me what i wanted to eat for them to cook. so i had them buy mussels, escargot, seabass, spinach and lots of tofu. i love shellfish. and tofu. and we had breakfast where i ate 3 roti pratas. yes i have an enormous appetite now. expanding wasteline, here i come.

oh i got a job as a waitress at aramsa spas at bishan but my dad didn't want me to do it. so i'm off again waiting patiently for the bloody schools to require my services.

dang last night was the last episode of kitchen confidential too. hell man. and the oc finale was a tearjerker. just when i was beginning to like both marissa cooper and mischa barton, she had to die. ch 5 better show the new season soon man. and i think kaitlin looks so much like marissa. and i missed watching the heroes season premiere. dang.

yesterday's sgp-tha live telecast on ch 5 meant that i missed extreme makeover and the simple life. isn't the starsports broadcast enough? i may sound unpatriotic but those who were interested in watching were at the national stadium. the rest of us just want to get on our lives, or in my case my tv shows. sorry man.

innova's having its college opening ceremony tomorrow. so why the hell aren't i invited?
