A Tribute to Rafael Nadal.

i would like to dedicate today's entry wholly to the 4th round men's singles australian open match between rafael nadal and lleyton hewitt.

match of the decade, that's what i would like to call it. the scoreline was as terrifying as the match was. hewitt won with the scoreline, 7-5 3-6 1-6 7-6(7-3) 6-2. that was probably the best tennis match i have ever watched in my entire life. in the 4th set tie breaker, i was all set to celebrate nadal's glorious victory. but to my despair, hewitt came back to win the set. i started to wince in pain as i saw my spanish hero starting to let his nerves get the better of him. to make matters worse, he had sudden leg cramps which further dampen his game standards. it was painful to watch as hewitt begins to take control of the game with the help of the home crowd aka the fanatics.

my heart then began to beat at the rate of 12 beats/min (in case you're wondering, it's just an unrealistic estimation added to inculcate the feeling of dissapointment and sadness) as i saw hewitt screaming "come on!!" after he had won the last set. it was so sad to see nadal walk out of the rod laver arena without the victory he had wished for. but still he walked out a proud man with his head held high. there was nothing to be ashamed of as he played a superb match. even though he might not have gone till the end, being 18 meant that there was still more to come from this great player. just like what hewitt had said post-match, i personally salute nadal for his awesome spirited attitude which is exemplary to all other young players out there.

you may not have emerged victorious, but i will still be here awaiting for your magical moment to shine.
cheers to RAFAEL NADAL, my favourite tennis player in the world :) .
